This internship was my first practical experience in a law firm.
When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the team.
My name is Cidji, and I am a law student at the University of Paris Panthéon-Assas in France.
Last month, I had the opportunity to undertake a four-week internship at LPA-GGV. This internship was rewarding in many ways, allowing me to gain a better understanding of the legal system.
Upon my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the firm’s team. After a brief presentation of the premises and the members of the team, they explained to me how the different internal procedures worked, as well as the software used within the firm.
I then began my internship by analysing cases in order to prepare my arguments on the various legal issues they had raised.
Also, I carried out in-depth legal research and wrote summary notes. This enabled me to broaden my knowledge of international law, but also to learn more about the particularities of German legislation.
Subsequently, I had the opportunity to participate at hearings at the labour court in Frankfurt. I learned a lot about the German court system and the exact course of a labour court case.
This internship was my first experience of working in a law firm, and it was extremely beneficial. I not only acquired practical skills, but I also got an overview of the daily life in a German law firm.
I am very grateful to the firm for this opportunity and for the kindness shown by the entire team.
I would like to thank Dr Steffen Paulmann, Ms Jessica Hild, and Dr Annika Jo Heinrich-Peine for taking the time to teach me their profession and for the precious advice they gave me.
I would also like to thank Ms Franziska von Borries for her kindness, as well as all the people I met who contributed to making this first experience enjoyable.
This immersion has confirmed my choice of career.
