LPA Munich advises BayWa r.e. on the sale of two wind farms in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany

Stadtwerke Stuttgart acquire wind farms and expand
their portfolio in the wind energy sector

Munich, 21 October 2013 – LPA has advised Munich based BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH (“BayWa r.e.”) on the sale of wind farms Everswinkel I and II in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Both wind farms combined consist of 8 Vestas V90 2,0MW wind turbines with a total performance of 16 MW. The wind farms are located in the administrative district of Warendorf in the “Münsterland”-region. The seller, BayWa r.e., will continue with the technical and commercial operation of both wind farms. The purchase price for both wind farms amounts to more than EUR 25 million.

BayWa r.e. is focused on photovoltaic, wind and biogas projects in Europe and the United States. Its activities range from the development and turn-key construction to the technical and commercial operation of renewable energy facilities. Further, BayWa r.e. offers consultant services regarding the full lifecycle of such projects. Munich based BayWa AG, operating in the agriculture, building, materials and energy sector, bundles its group activities in the renewables energy sector in BayWa r.e., whereas BayWa r.e. serves as a holding company for several subsidiaries in the solar energy, wind energy, bio energy and geothermal energy sector, including the trading sector in the field of photovoltaic.

The purchaser, Stadtwerke Stuttgart, has been established as the new municipal energy supplier for the state capital of German federal state Baden-Württemberg in 2012.
Until 2020, Stadtwerke Stuttgart are going to invest EUR 800 million in renewable energies in order to promote Stuttgart’s local energy turnaround. Purchasing the two wind farms, for the first time Stadtwerke Stuttgart have operating and power supplying wind turbines in possession.
