BeNEX GmbH (“BeNEX”), one of the leading mobility service providers in the regional train sector has acquired the operations of Abellio in Germany. BeNEX is acquiring the shares in the German holding company ATH Rail Transport Beteiligungsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH, which in turn holds the shares in the railway transport companies Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland GmbH and WestfalenBahn GmbH and the service company PTS GmbH.

The acquisition will allow BeNEX to significantly expand its network and business operations. Abellio currently has more than 1,600 employees and provides train services representing currently 25m train kilometres (as of 2025: 16m).

Seller is Transport Holding Germany B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of the state-owned Dutch railway company N.V. Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
